Travel Purpose: business

Positive: Charming little parking spot conveniently located right in front of the apartment—ideal for anyone who enjoys the luxury of not having to carry their luggage across three postal zones. It’s also nicely situated within drifting distance of Automotodrom Grobnik and a delightfully nonchalant bakery that smells perpetually of warm bread and casual indulgence. Now, during a minor identity crisis involving the absence of our ID cards (which had apparently decided to stay in and relax for the day in Automotodrom), the owner didn’t panic, lecture, or call for ritual paperwork. Instead, they did the most logical thing imaginable: they sent the local police to us. Yes, sent them. Like a pizza delivery, but with uniforms and a clipboard. The officers arrived promptly, smiled reassuringly, and proceeded to verify our existence with a level of friendliness that strongly implied they were just happy to be outside on a nice day. Their English was excellent, their demeanor was charming, and at no point did anyone threaten us with waiting around “until further notice.” A thoroughly efficient and oddly pleasant encounter with the law—possibly even enjoyable, if such a thing can be said without causing legal confusion.

Negative: Communication with the owner was conducted entirely in a language known locally as "not anything we understood." This led to a series of elaborate pantomimes and interpretive dance routines which, while creatively fulfilling, could have been replaced with a single shared phrasebook and about forty-five minutes less confusion. During the off-season, the apartment relies on what can only be described as a proud collection of manual electric heaters—one per room, each with the raw power of a particularly determined hairdryer. Cozy, in the way that watching a fireplace video on your phone is cozy. And finally, while Booking.com cheerfully asked for our credit card details, the actual payment process turned out to be refreshingly medieval: cash only. No cards, just an unspoken agreement sealed with a knowing nod and the rustle of paper currency.

Summary: Fantastic spot if you enjoy scenic views, international charades, and the nostalgic thrill of cash.
