It is located on picturesque Whetstone Pond, twenty minutes south of Moosehead Lake. The area abounds with the natural beauty of mountains, woods, lakes, and streams.
Whetstone Pond lies adjacent to the Appalachian Trail, so hiking in the area is
legendary, while walking and biking are very good as well. The cottage is directly on the water and has a large private dock for sunning, swimming, boating, bird watching, or simply gazing at the views of Russell mountain across the lake . The swimming temperature is ideal and the water is clean and fresh.

Summary: We have stayed here many times. My wife came to Whetstone "camp" her entire life and also brought her 2 children until they were out of College. This cottage is reminiscent of that special place and from my point of view even nicer. I love the books and this time read Thoreau's The main woods and it was really nice to hear of the travel in the old days of the places that are right here before our eyes. Our bed was comfortable and we very much like how the upstairs was opened up some. We are grateful for the correspondence's with the owners.
