Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The view of Mount Batur is stunning. Our Villa was perfection itself in every aspect of decor. The owner stopped buy at one point. He is an absolute delight and told us he brings by the canang sari personally to offer up blessings and protection for his guests. The on site hosts, Imelda and her husband, are amazing. We wanted for nothing. Imelda helped with communications with one of our drivers, set up in Villa massages, and was incredibly sweet and helpful. Back to the owner...he has a serious eye for quality decor and the whole experience was top notch.

Negative: Has nothing to do with the villa. We did not get to see the sunrise on our jeep excursion of Mount Batur. That was not the excursions fault (clouds). Honestly, the jeep excursion was very disappointing. They picked us up at 3:30am. We got to location by 4am. And there we sat being nagged at by vendors for 2 hours prior to sunrise. The jeep only goes up halfway. Crowded and high pressure vendors trying to get you to buy stuff. The hike is much better just for the rush, but is fairly difficult and it is still crowded and have pushy vendors at the top. Better off if you are not a hiker to get breakfast at one of the hilltop restaurants if you want a stunning view and not deal with the crowds and vendors.
