Summary: Our visit to Cosby, Tennessee. A quick getaway to Tennessee where we decided to stay away from the more touristy areas. I decided on staying in Cosby as I found a cabin leased by VRBO, called Eagle’s Nest. Firstly, the pictures did not do it justice. We followed the renters directions and found the entry road without much fanfare. Left at the church and past the two cemeteries while navigating up a one lane road. Experienced drivers necessary! Staying right at the “Y”s, we found the cabin. Entry lane to the cabin, however was very steep and not for the faint of heart. Had to stop on the way up to remove a log from the road so that we could pass. Upon arrival, you know you are in seclusion. The cabin was larger than expected and was laid out with comfort in mind. Central heating and air conditioning, made our somewhat cool days there bearable. Additional floor space heaters supplemented the system but we did not need them. First notice....a ton of outlets and light switches. Well thought of but can be overwhelming until you get used to the place. An adequate kitchen with a lot of the useful amenities. Flat panel electric stove with three of the four burners working. Not a problem though. A silly negative, on my part, was the miniature coffee cups. If you like coffee. BYOC! Other than that, it worked. A comfortable sleeping area upstairs with a king sized bed and a full bath. Large sized with a sitting area, closet space and encompassed with spiral logs that gave you the warm log cabin effect. Access gained by using a spiral staircase that traverses the entire cabin. A screened porch at the rear made evening meals enjoyable. The lower level adds the second bedroom and bath. Also comfortable with the required amenities. A door leads to the backyard where the is the hot tub. This was one of the most enjoyable and useable parts of the cabin. The back porch also has a picnic table and an area where a fire can be built. The grill however, resides in the front of the cabin. I can see why, but most may find it’s placement questionable. Overall, this cabin is very likable but I would think twice during the winter months, especially if there is precipitation on the ground.
